ENCELADUS SATURN'S STUNNING MOON
Enceladus Enceladus is a small moon of Saturn, about 500 kilometers (310 miles) in diameter. It was discovered by astronomer William Herschel in 1789 and named after one of the giants in Greek mythology. Enceladus is an interesting moon because it has an underground ocean of liquid water beneath its icy crust and geysers of water vapor and ice erupting from Antarctica, making it one of the most active bodies in the solar system. The geyser was discovered by the Cassini spacecraft during his 2005 flyby of Enceladus. Subsequent observations revealed that the geysers were fed by an underground ocean of liquid water in contact with the rock core.
